Ghostbusters & Utilizing Vinyl Wrapping For The New Movie

By Paula Hess

It's easy to see that the Ghostbusters series is one of the most unique entries in fiction. It has been able to integrate comedy with just a little bit of horror to create a series that just about anyone can get into. With that said, it's clear that there is quite a bit of attention that has been brought to the recently announced entry into the series. I have to wonder, with all of the news surrounding said movie, if the process of vinyl wrapping will be able to help it.

There are many reasons why this third Ghostbusters movie drew attention, amongst them being the all-female cast. I did not feel like this was a tremendous selling point, though the fact that the four main actresses were involved in Saturday Night Live certainly helped matters. Of course, with any remake, there will be detractors and very few can argue with this point. However, I'm of the opinion that a movie of this magnitude requires time in order to see if the movie will hold up.

The Ghostbusters premise is, in my view, one of the most self-aware in the realm of science fiction. Part of this comes for the main cast and how, admittedly, none of them fit the mold of your standard hero. They are working men, to put it simply, who are wrapped up in a case in which supernatural forces are prominent. A premise like this should be retained for the third movie, or at least modified so that it will be able to fit a more modern setting.

If you want to talk about marketing, vinyl wrapping is more than worth talking about. Companies like JMR Graphics are able to go about this effectively and I believe that a good part of this comes from the fact that they know the importance of aesthetic quality. Wraps like these should feature a litany of elements, amongst them being the cast that has been talked about for so long. It also doesn't hurt if the Ghostbusters logo, in someway or another, is located on these wraps.

To say that the response to this movie has been mixed would be an understatement. I think that a film like this deserves a fair shot, seeing as how it's part of a series that is fondly loved by science fiction enthusiasts. Even though this film may not stack up to previous entries in the Ghostbusters series - nostalgia plays a part everyone's mindset, after all - there may still be value to be seen. It's just a matter of giving this new entry a chance.
