Getting A Real Medical Marijuana Card And Obtaining One

By Vick Yan

Not too long ago, quite a few states ruled that an individual could begin using marijuana legally. Individuals wanted to begin taking advantage of the law so that they could enjoy the substance without having to worry about it being illegal. In order to do so, they learned that they had to obtain a medical marijuana card.

The law that was put into place allows certain individuals to be protected. A card must be obtained and the holder needs to meet specific guidelines in order for them to be protected. Furthermore, it allows the individual to legally have a predetermined amount on them at any given time.

The states that have approved this law do not have standardized guidelines to obtain this permit. All of the states do require that the individual desiring the card must see a physician. Most individuals, for various reasons, opt to see someone other than their primary care physicians. Consequently there are lots of weed doctors or medical marijuana doctors who provide their services specifically for those looking to obtain the card.

Those states who have passed this law has a list of conditions the patient must have in order to qualify to legally obtain one, this is why the doctor referral comes into play. So, once the doctor is seen and a referral is in hand, the individual can apply and once obtained is only good for a specified time period.

There has been issues as well as administrative changes to obtain one. All of this has been a topic of much discussion for many legislators who feel that some of their constituents suffered pointlessly prior to the new law. Others argue that this law should not have even passed and as it stands, gives many a permit to do something that should remain illegal.

Many believe that, like other things, this law was enacted to create a loophole which should be closed. It allows cardholders to engage in something that they strongly believe creates other problems which are viewed as negative. This is a sensitive subject especially when it involves those with small children who are exposed to this behavior.

Whether one is for or against it, the law states that one can obtain a medical marijuana card. As long as the guidelines are followed and the fees are payed, it is legal. Like everything else, rules and guidelines change, thus the rules set out currently to obtain one is sure to change as time goes one.
