Social Media Networking & The Importance Of Gimmicks

By Rob Sutter

I've been exposed to a great deal in the way of social media networking and I'd like to think that I have a general idea of how it works. I like being able to stay in contact with others and I know that its marketing potential is one of the most substantial to talk about. However, I'd be lying if I said that there wasn't more than a few gimmicks to talk about. Technology seems to be brimming with them and I believe that it's worth talking about their importance.

Gimmicks are, in some cases, not ones that can be used for the long term. One of the instances that I can name right off of the top of my head has got to be 3D technology, which has proven that it hasn't been something relevant to one's long term enjoyment. I've had little more than a fleeting interest on the matter. Gimmicks do not have to be seemingly useless in the long term, though, as there are examples which have been more impactful.

What about touchscreens, which many people years ago thought were not going to be into fashion? Fast forward many years later and it seems like everything from phones to even computer screens have been able to integrate this in some way. It's one of the simplest additions that anyone can get into and I believe its accessibility is what has been able to make it so great. This is an example of a gimmick that has firmly cemented itself into our everyday lives, whether we realize it or not.

The litany of gimmicks in technology today can be talked about extensively but how would social media networking experts think about them? They would probably talk about why some of these were able to work better than others in the long term. To put it simply, some of these features have proven themselves as strong more than others have in the past. It's hard to say why this is but it's clear that strength in the long term can be covered by firms the likes of fishbat.

Gimmicks should not be deemed worthless, at least not to a total extent. After all, there have been some that have worked nicely over the course of time - touchscreens being just one example - and I believe that more can come to the surface as well. However, I can't say that every cheap trick is going to be able to produce results. Sometimes, though, you have to wait a situation out in the way of technology and see how exactly an audience reacts to certain developments in the future.
